Kendrick Lamar’s Latest Album Wasn’t Always Called ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’
The Compton rapper blasted the video over jumbotrons at both city center locations, with fans gathering around to watch the world premiere.
In the new X-directed video, Lamar performs around his hometown, even on top of the Compton Swap Meet. He’s showing off his crew and his C-walking, rocking a Dodgers hat, Patriots jacket and white Reebok sneakers — surely a gift from hispartnership with the brand.

In 2012, Lamar told Complex that this location holds a special place in his heart. He said, “I’ve been going to the swap meet my whole life. As a kid, that’s where I used to get all my cassettes, all my CDs. My pops, too—he’d buy music. I’d get my Nikes there. You might see Suge Knight, other folks from Compton.”
